Take a "Peep" at the Candy Factory this Easter
The Candy Factory is a notable landmark in Columbia. At the corner of Cherry St. and S. 7th St., you probably recognize its colorful awning. You may have stopped in for their famous chocolate covered strawberries or in-house made truffles and bon-bons.
This year for Easter, be sure to “hop” on over and leave with a chocolate-covered marshmallow Peep or two. They covered their shop from head-to-toe with displays of pastel-wrapped, custom chocolate baskets.
Some of their most popular items currently include the chocolate covered oreos and graham crackers. All of them are hand dipped in milk, white, or dark chocolate. To complete each oreo or graham cracker, each is finished off with a small topping, made from compacted sugar that is molded into colorful bunnies or Easter eggs.
Chocolate bunnies are also available and the sizes are endless. There are milk, white or dark chocolate selections to choose from. Cellophane goodie bags filled with small chocolate, foil-wrapped bunnies are also available. But the real heavyweight champion is the whopping 9-pounder, molded in-house. The weight of this bunny is attributed to the fact that it is completely one solid piece of chocolate. There is no hollow center. You can use this bunny as a centerpiece for your Easter celebration. You will certainly have enough for everyone to take a bite of chocolate with them.
The shelves are also lined with pre-made, cellophane-wrapped Easter baskets for customers to grab and go. The baskets vary in size and design. Each of them contain an array of boxed chocolates, foil-wrapped chocolate eggs, and varying sizes of chocolate bunnies.
If you prefer to snag just a few items, try out the chocolate-covered rice crispy treats. There are Easter eggs, bunnies, and butterflies just to name a few. Each rice crispy treat is dipped into chocolate and set on a popsicle stick. Pastel details are piped onto them to complete the eye-catching design.
